Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Harakati Fikra collects through this website, why, where it is kept and for how long. Harakati Fikra is an independent studio. This policy uses "Harakati Fikra" as its name. When Harakati Fikra registers as an entity, this policy will be updated to name it.
The rules of the free hosting program are set out in the Program Terms.
What we collect
When you apply for free hosting, the application form asks for:
- your organization's name, its email address, and its website address if it has one;
- your name, your position or role, your email address and your WhatsApp number;
- whether your organization currently has a website, and its address if so;
- your confirmation that the organization is a registered non-profit organization in Kenya.
The form does not ask for funding information, traffic estimates or registration documents. During the verification step, the organization shows a valid registration certificate.
If you contact us by email or WhatsApp, we receive the messages you send and the contact details you send them from.
If you book a call, you do so on Cal.com's booking page, which asks for your name and email address and any notes you choose to add, and sends them to us.
Why we collect it
We use this information to review applications, to contact applicants, and to run the program. In practice that means:
- reviewing your application in the order it was received;
- contacting you to arrange a short conversation and to confirm eligibility;
- setting up or migrating your website and giving your organization access;
- staying in touch about the program while your website is hosted, for example if your website goes above its allocation or if the program ever has to change;
- arranging and holding calls you book with us;
- answering questions about paid work, and preparing quotes.
Where it is stored
Applications are stored with Cloudflare, which also hosts this website. The automatic confirmation email you receive after applying, and the notification we receive, are sent through Zoho Mail.
Call bookings are handled by Cal.com, which keeps the booking details on our behalf. Cal.com's own privacy policy is at https://cal.com/privacy.
Who sees it
Application information, call bookings and messages are seen only by the two people behind Harakati Fikra. Apart from the services above that store it and send email on our behalf, it is not shared with anyone else, and it is never sold.
Retention
- Declined applications are deleted within 6 months.
- Records of participating organizations are kept while the organization is in the program, and for up to three months after its website is removed from the program, unless the organization requests earlier deletion.
- Messages and call bookings that do not lead to paid work or an application are deleted within 12 months.
- Records of paid work are kept for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you or your organization by emailing hello@harakatifikra.com.
